Seeing Yourself As God Sees You Day 4

Day 4: Confidence That Comes From God Alone

Reading: Ephesians 1:3-8 — A sweeping declaration of every spiritual blessing available to those who are united with Christ, including being chosen, adopted, forgiven, and showered with grace and wisdom before the world was made.

Devotional: True confidence is not the same as conceit. Conceit says, "I am better than others." True confidence says, "I know who I am in God, and I trust Him completely." Gideon's 300 men defeated a vast enemy not because they were the strongest or the most numerous, but because they became one in purpose and one in trust. When you are grounded in the truth of who God says you are — chosen, adopted, forgiven, and deeply loved — you stop needing to perform for others or compete with them. You simply walk in the direction God has already prepared for you.

Reflection Question: Is your sense of confidence more often rooted in your own accomplishments and abilities, or in your identity as someone chosen and loved by God?

Practical Application: Before you begin your day tomorrow, read Ephesians 1:3-8 as a declaration over your life. Approach whatever challenge faces you that day with this question: "What would someone who is chosen, forgiven, and deeply loved by God do in this situation?"
