Good Friday - It Is Finished

God demonstrated His love for us - Love that's not demonstrated isn't complete love.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

“Tetelestai” (τετέλεσται) is one of the most powerful words ever spoken.

It’s the word Jesus Christ cried out on the cross in Gospel of John 19:30.

What it literally means:

“It is finished.”

But that short phrase carries deep, layered meaning:

1. The debt is paid in full

In the ancient world, tetelestai was written on receipts when a bill was completely paid.

👉 Jesus wasn’t saying “I am finished”—He was saying

“The debt of sin is paid. Nothing left owed.”
