Day 1: The Gift of Joy

Reading: John 15:9-12

Devotional: Jesus didn't come to give us a life of depression or despair—He came to fill us with His joy. This joy isn't dependent on our circumstances but flows from remaining in His love. When we obey His commandments and love one another, we position ourselves to receive the overflow of His joy. Notice that Jesus endured the cross "for the joy set before Him"—that joy was you and me, redeemed and restored. Today, recognize that you are a source of joy to Jesus. Your very existence brings Him delight. Let this truth anchor you: His joy is available to you right now, not because everything is perfect, but because He is with you.

Reflection: Where have you been seeking joy in circumstances rather than in Christ's presence?
