Day 1: God's Thoughts Toward You Are Good
Reading: Jeremiah 29:11 — God declares that His plans for His people are not harmful but are oriented toward peace, a future, and hope, even when they are in a season of captivity or loss.
Devotional:
It is easy to doubt God's goodness when life feels like it is falling apart. Homes lost to disaster. Relationships broken. Careers derailed. The people of Israel received this promise not in a season of comfort, but in the middle of a 70-year exile. They had been uprooted, displaced, and stripped of everything familiar. Yet God spoke clearly: His thoughts toward them were good. This tells us something profound. God's goodness is not contingent on your circumstances. He does not revise His plans for you when trouble arrives. His intentions toward you were settled before the problem ever appeared. Today, resist the temptation to measure God's love by what you are currently experiencing. His thoughts toward you remain good, even in the dark.
Reflection Questions:
In what area of your life do you find it hardest to believe that God's plans for you are good?
How does knowing this promise was given during captivity change the way you receive it?
Practical Application: Write down one situation in your life that feels hopeless. Next to it, write the words: "God's thoughts toward me in this are good." Return to it each day this week.
