Joy Is Our Sustaining Strength Day 5

Day 5: Choosing Joy as a Lifestyle

Reading: James 1:2-5Psalm 16:11

Devotional: Joy is an attitude we choose, rooted in our relationship with Jesus. When troubles come—not if, but when—we can consider them opportunities for great joy because they deepen our dependence on God. The Holy Spirit lives in you with all His attributes, including joy. It's always available, but sometimes we must intentionally enter into it. Set your mind on heaven's realities, not earthly troubles. Feed your joy with God's Word, worship, and conversation with Jesus. Don't let circumstances or the enemy steal what Christ has given you. Like David, you can pray, "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation." The fountain of salvation is deep—drink from it daily with joy.

Reflection: What daily practice will help you maintain joy regardless of circumstances?

Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of joy that sustains me through every season. Help me choose joy daily, worship through trials, and reflect Your presence to a watching world. In Jesus' name, amen.
