Seeing Yourself As God Sees You Day 2
Day 2: God Calls You What You Cannot Yet See
Reading: Judges 6:11-16 — The account of God's angel approaching Gideon, who is hiding in fear, and addressing him as a mighty man of valor — a description that did not match Gideon's circumstances or his own self-perception.
Devotional: Gideon was hiding. He was afraid. His people were oppressed and his confidence was gone. Yet God addressed him not according to his condition but according to his calling. God called him a mighty man of valor before a single act of valor had taken place. This is how God works. He calls things that are not as though they are, not to ignore reality, but to reveal a greater one. The way God speaks over your life is not based on your worst day. It is based on His unchanging purpose for you. He is not at the wrong address.
Reflection Question: What names or labels have others placed on you that you have allowed to define you more than what God says about you?
Practical Application: Identify one negative label you have carried about yourself. Look up one Scripture that directly contradicts that label and write it somewhere you will see it daily this week.
