Before There Was A Problem God Had The Solution Day 4
Day 4: The Ninth Hour — Do Not Quit Before the Breakthrough
Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 — Paul describes being pressed on every side but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair, struck down but not destroyed. He maintains resilience and forward movement despite relentless opposition.
Devotional:
There is a particular cruelty to the ninth hour. You have been in the storm long enough to be exhausted. The initial surge of faith has been tested repeatedly. Weariness has set in. This is precisely the hour when many people quit, and it is precisely the hour Paul is writing about. He had been stoned, shipwrecked, and imprisoned, yet he wrote that God always causes His people to triumph. Not sometimes. Always. Jesus at the ninth hour declared, "It is finished." What looked like the end was actually the completion of the greatest rescue in human history. If you are in your ninth hour today, do not mistake exhaustion for defeat. The darkness before dawn is still darkness, but dawn is still coming.
Reflection Questions:
Have you been tempted to give up on something God placed in your heart because the waiting has gone on too long?
How does Paul's testimony in 2 Corinthians 4 speak to your current season?
Practical Application: Read 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 slowly three times today. After each reading, name one area of your life where you choose, by faith, not to give up. Speak it out loud.
