Psalms 113:3 From the rising of the sun to its going down
The LORD’S name is to be praised.
Psalms 113:3 Everywhere—from east to west— praise the name of the LORD.
Since I read this passage over forty years ago I have loved it and wanted it to be a part of my life. I know I haven't always lived up to praising God all day, everyday and everywhere but that's what I want to aim for. Personally, for me, giving God thanks has been at the foundation of my walk with my Lord. One day, soon after I gave my life to Jesus, I was taking my lunch break and I wanted to DO something spiritual like read my Bible or pray. I didn't know anything about a relationship with the Lord, I only knew religion so I thought if I sat in my car and read the Bible that'd be a good thing to do and of course, it would and is a good thing to do but not out of obligation but rather out of love and desire to know God. As I sat in my car and tried to figure out somewhere to read in the Bible I found myself just saying "thank you Jesus". After saying that a few times I thought this is crazy, all I can DO is to say that? Then I felt like it's OK, just tell Him thank you. I know now that was the Holy Spirit guiding me into a lifestyle of thanksgiving. From that day it never felt wrong to give God thanks.
When I read this passage in the two translations that I posted above I see a fuller meaning of the text. It's not only from sunrise to sunset, it's everywhere, from east to west that I will give God praise.
Praise can be described as complimenting God, it's saying thanks. So today, whether it's in the morning or evening and wherever you are just take a moment to give your Lord a compliment, believe me your soul will be refreshed and comforted.
A Prayer - thank you Lord for saving my soul, thank you Lord for making me whole. Right now, in this moment, I just want to say thank you Jesus, you've been so wonderful to me.
