Christmas Countdown - Day 1

Joy to the world!
The Lord is come
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare Him room and Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and Heaven and nature sing.

You've probably heard those words sung once or twice, or maybe a thousand times, at Christmastime. To me, the words that jump out are "Let every heart prepare Him room and Heaven and nature sing".

I love to sing, I actually find myself singing a lot, every day. I love to listen to and sing Christmas songs. Usually I'll begin the Christmas song singing right after Thanksgiving and I go through until after the new year.

Singing those songs bring back a lot of memories of my mother, Phyllis. Mom went to heaven almost two years ago and I miss her but I have a treasure chest of memories of her and one of those treasures is of her love for music and singing. At Christmastime our home was filled with music, especially the songs that Johnny Mathis sang.  And, yes, I still sing them today, over sixty years later. This morning when I looked out my window and saw the layer of snow in my yard a line from one of those songs came to mind, "over the ground lies a mantle of white, a heaven of diamonds etc."
At Christmastime the songs I sing remind me of Jesus, they remind me to make room for Him.

Did you know that Jesus actually chose to be born, laying aside His equality with God; the bible tells us that He would be called Emmanuel, God with us. He became one of us. He did that so we would realize that we could know Him and even become like Him. He wanted all of us to know that He wasn’t some distant entity.

During the busyness of the Christmas season I hope that you’ll be aware of Jesus’ love for you, I hope that you’ll have moments of peace in your heart because you’ll sense that His presence is there and I pray that you’ll take time to enjoy not only the season but you’ll also enjoy Him. God Bless You and Merry Christmas.
