It's Tuesday, December 22nd and there's 3 Days until Christmas. It's getting closer! I hope you're enjoying the season and not getting too stressed. When you get overwhelmed and start to freak out because you don't think there's enough time to get everything done you really need to take a step back and get the perspective of what's truly important and that's to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Yes, we've all got a lot of things to get done in the next 3 days but putting Jesus first will help you to have peace and relax.
Yesterday I gave you my thoughts about Jesus being the Counselor from this passage in the book if Isaiah.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end...
As we countdown the days until Christmas, I'm going to give a brief thought on each of these five descriptors of Jesus. So here we go with the third one.
Jesus is the MIGHTY GOD and that tells me that He's the ultimate super hero. In so many of the comics and fantasy stories there's the antagonist or the villain and then there's the protagonist or the hero. In the middle is always the victim, the character who's being bullied or abused. In the story of life, which is not a fantasy, there's the devil, the antagonist and then there's you and me, the victims of the torment of the devil. Thank God the story don't end there... that's right, there's the protagonist, the Mighty God - Jesus! The theme song from Mighty Mouse comes to mind "here I come to save the day...". And that's it, Jesus comes to save the day, our hero, the great protagonist comes along to rescue us from the disaster and He is POWERFUL!
In the Hebrew language Mighty God are the words gibbowr (mighty) and El (God) the first part, gibbowr, means powerful, warrior, champion, chief, mighty one, strong man, valiant man.
WOW, that a mighty powerful man, that's our Jesus.
A lot of times in those comics and fantasy stories the victim is getting pummeled, it looks bad, real bad. But, usually, at the last possible second the hero comes along and rescues them. In real life it sure seems like it's too late, like we're going down but hold on, help is on the way. the Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved or rescued. So if you're in a place where you feel like you're going down for the final count call on the Lord, He'll hear you and rescue you.
Again, I want to stress what the angel said to Mary - "with God, nothing is impossible".
Three days before Christmas would be a good time to remember that on the third day Jesus was resurrected from the grave. God has perfect timing, hold on, help is on the way.
God bless you, I'll be back tomorrow with the next installment on the Christmas Countdown.
