Christmas Countdown - Day 4

It's  Monday, December 21st and there's 4 Days until Christmas. It's getting closer!  I've been sampling the baked goods from Carolyn's Kitchen and they are good! Jayden, Jena and Madison are here helping and they're carrying on the family tradition of making delicious baked goods for Christmas. I hope there's some left after my sampling...

Yesterday I gave you my thoughts about Jesus being WONDERFUL from this passage from the book if Isaiah.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end...

As we countdown the days until Christmas, I'm going to give a brief thought on each of these five descriptors of Jesus. So here we go with the second one.

Jesus is COUNSELOR. When I see that word one of the things that comes to mind is that Jesus will give me advice on things. There are an awful lot of things that I need an outside perspective on and I can count on Jesus to advise me and give me good counsel.

In the Hebrew language counselor is the word yaats which means to advise, to deliberate and to guide.

There's a passage in the Bible that tells us that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours. What that means to me is that He's a lot smarter than me. So wouldn't I be foolish to think that I don't need His counsel? Whether we realize it or not we get counsel from people all the time, even if we're not asking them for it. That's not always a bad thing because when we can get another set of eyes and ears on something we shift from one perspective to two or more perspectives. There are certainly times that God will use someone else to help me see something more clearly and then I can make a better decision.

You may be facing something today that is overwhelming you and you just don't know what to do and for you to know that Jesus is the best counselor can inspire you to have a talk with Him about it and let Him give you guidance. Remember what was said yesterday, "with God, nothing is impossible".

Never forget that Jesus is Emanuel, God with us and He is with you! Don't worry about asking Him for advice, He'll be happy to help you out.

God bless you, I'll be back tomorrow with the next installment on the Christmas Countdown.
